Each must have occurred in the workplace, or at a work related function, and cannot be intentional or self-inflicted. Nor will we pay in any instance where an illicit substance is involved. Injuries or death caused by intoxication also may not be covered.
What Benefits Does Workmans Comp Confer To My Employees?
Workers Comp Insurance from Joyce, Jackman & Bell Insurors provides the following state mandated coverages:
Lost Wages Payment
If your employee is permanently disabled or unable to work for an extended period of time this coverage will pay for their lost wages. It will also help to compensate them should the illness or injury cause a considerable deduction from their pre-injury wages.
- An employee is considered Totally Disability if they are unable to work. After 104 weeks you may have the employee reevaluated by a medical professional to determine whether or not they meet the 50% impaired threshold for injury according to American Medical Association standards. If they are not more than 50% impaired you may change their status to Partially Disabled.
- The Partial Disability benefit can only be granted for up to 500 weeks.
The surviving dependents may be eligible for Death Benefits.
Specific Loss Benefits
If one of your employees is to lose use of an appendage they may be entitled to Specific Loss Benefits. Included in that is if they do in fact lose the appendage itself.
When one of your employees is injured by a cover peril in the workplace they are entitled to the following medical services:
- Orthopedic and other rehabilitative services
- Prescription drugs and other medications
Please note that employees are free to choose to receive service from the health care professional of their choice; although we do recommend that they stay within the state of Pennsylvania.
Certain occupations cause more exposure related illness and injury than others. If you own a business that deals in chemicals or any other high risk environmental contaminant, you can't afford not to have this coverage for your employees.
