With Memorial Day and the unofficial start to summer having just passed, we here at Joyce, Jackman & Bell Insurors thought that now would be a good time to get you ready for that annual rite of summer passage, the family vacation.
Family Vacation To-Do List
When done right, a family vacation can be a lot of fun!...Or it can be an absolute nightmare. Often times what makes those bad vacations real bad, are those little unexpected things that can pop up and really ruin your day. Like a fender bender. Or lost luggage. Or an injury to a visitor of your home.
While these things can’t always be avoided, you can manage how they will be handled. Here’s our advice:
Check on your Auto Insurance policy
The size of your deductible can play a big part in determining just how costly an accident will be. You might think a little dent is no big deal, until you get an estimate and find out it is actually going to cost you big. The question then becomes, would you rather spend less on a monthly payment now and pay more at the auto-body shop later, or switch it around? Talk to your agent before making any changes to your policy.
Will you be taking a plane trip this summer? If so you should consider investing in Travel Insurance. A typical travel insurance policy is especially essential to those traveling outside the country. It will help pay for costly medical expenses, repatriation, lost luggage and other travel related emergencies.

Review your Home Insurance plan
Did you know that some Homeowners Insurances will pay for any high value items that are lost or stolen from you when you are on vacation? Check in with your agent for more information.
A couple weeks ago we wrote about pool safety and homeowner liability. If you plan on hosting visitors for their family vacation this summer, it is an article you’ll want to read.
